Car with women inside shot-up on Boulevard in N.E. Philly

A man in a gold car opened fire on a car containing three women leaving a family affair in Northeast Philadelphia overnight, and, although the victims were shaken, no one was hurt.

Northeast Detectives were still investigating the scene early this morning, and were not sure why the man in the gold car shot at the silver Honda Passport.

Police say the incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. The women, who live outside the city and were possibly related, were leaving the affair when they spotted the gold car following them.

The women stopped presumably for a red light at he busy Roosevelt Boulevard and Harbison Avenue intersection, which is next to Lincoln Highway.

When they did, the gunman got out of the gold car and shot at the car.  A windshield in the Honda was shattered.

But the man and his driver, a woman, drove off and fled.

Police say the investigation is still unfolding and the motive is unclear.

It does not appear that the victims knew the gunman, although any connections were still being explored, including that it could be a case of road rage.

Northeast Detectives said they did not have a full description of the shooter, or the car and were still pursuing leads.  It appears more than one shot was fired, but that too was still under investigation.
