Young mother risks life to save man on fire

Milagros Cintron may not think she's a hero, but Stephen Plueler likely does.

Tuesday morning, she was passing out get-out-the-vote flyers on Brookdale Street in Allentown, when she noticed smoke and flames coming from a garage, according to reports.

The 21-year-old mother ran over, saw Plueler on fire underneath his station wagon, pulled him out, and grabbed a hose.

"My instincts just kicked in. ... It was a life in danger and I had to help, Milagros told MyFoxPhilly.com.

Seconds later, something exploded, according to the Allentown Morning Call.

Then Cintron and fellow canvasser Eli Rodriguez made sure Plueler's wife got out of the house, which may have been rendered uninhabitable by the blaze.

Plueler, who was hospitalized with second-degree burns, apparently got gas on himself changing the fuel tank, according to firefighters.

Coincidentally, Plueler's daughter helped Cintron deal with being a teenage mom in high school.
