A tropical depression brewing east of the Bahamas may bring winds of up to 50 m.p.h. and heavy rain to the Philadelphia area by the weekend.

"It's still pretty far away," said meteorologist Valerie Meola of the National Weather Service in Mount Holly. "The current track takes is up the east coast and it could pass by us starting Friday."

Temperatures will cool significantly as a cold front sweeps through the region on Wednesday. Rain will start to move in Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday, Meola said.

Tuesday should be a warm day throughout the region, with highs in the 80s.

Wednesday's rain and clouds will bring temps down to the mid-70s and precipitation totaling about 1 to 1.5 inches.

The forecast calls for highs in the upper-60s on Thursday dropping to the mid-60s on Friday.
