Southwest Air plane at LaGuardia Airport suffers landing gear issues, airport closed

A Southwest Air plane apparently collapsed upon its front landing gear on the runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York City Monday evening, according to reports, but no injuries were immediately known.

The nose of the colorful Boeing 737 could be seen in photographs taken immediately after the unexplained collapse upon the front wheels at about 6:30 p.m.

No serious damage to the plane was noticeable. According to one report, three people may have suffered minor injuries.

Another report indicated that all passengers were off the plane shortly before 7 p.m.

It was not known when the airport in Queens would be reopened for departing and arriving flights.
