Winter storm watch issued for Atlantic City on Thursday
A storm that could bring three to five inches of snow to southern New Jersey and Delaware Thursday will very likely only provide Philadelphians with more of the same: rain.
A winter storm watch is in effect for Atlantic City, weather officials said.
When all is said and done, the storm Thursday will clear out Friday to allow the first substantial sunshine in more than a week, meteorologists are predicting. It’s been so gloomy even forecasters were trying to remember when they last saw a break in the clouds.
“I was just talking with a colleague and we were asking each other, ‘when was the last time the sun was out?’” meteorologist Larry Nierenberg of the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J., said Wednesday. “We came up with [last] Thursday.”
After a series of small storms since last week, Friday and Saturday will be cold and sunny, Nierenberg said.
As has been the case with recent storm systems, Philadelphia will be the dividing line between rain and snow.
The system originated in the south and will peeter out as it arrives in Philadelphia and central New Jersey, Nierenberg said.
