Snow a no-show, for now

Where's the snow? Sorry, kids. Don't count on much of the white stuff today, even if it does start to fall.

The National Weather Service is estimating far less than the two inches some forecasts were calling for in the Philadelphia region as of yesterday morning.

"We're not even calling for an inch," Mark DeLisi, the climate specialist at the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office in South Jersey, said early this morning.

DeLisi said he expected precipitation that falls today to come in the form of rain. It began raining early this morning in some areas, slowing the commute, but not halting it.

SEPTA was warning rail passengers to expect delays because of potential slippery conditions.  And, by 9 a.m., police in Montgomery and Chester Counties were reporting an increase in minor traffic accidents as a result of the weather conditions.

The forecast:

A mix of rain and snow in the morning, turning to all rain by 3 p.m. with a high of 39. Total expected snow is about half an inch.

Tonight will see another slight chance of snow before 8 p.m. Then, the storm will pretty much clear out.

Tomorrow looks to be mostly sunny with a high of 42. A warming trend will usher in later this week with highs steadily creeping upward to 51 on Saturday and the mid to high 50s on Sunday and Monday with nary a snowflake - or raindrop - expected.
