Roads closed, buses detoured near Art Museum

Motorists would be wise to avoid the Ben Franklin Parkway and Art Museum areas today, as numerous roads are closed so crews can clean up following the weekend's Made in America concert.

The museums on the Parkway and Logan Square will still be open, however. The Art Museum, for example, advises that its parking garage will be accessible via the Waterworks Drive entrance. Also open are the Barnes Foundation, the Rodin Museum, the Franklin Institute and the Academy of Natural Sciences.

The Ben Franklin Parkway was closed this morning from 20th Street to Eakins Oval, as were Martin Luther King Drive outbound,  and sections of 21st, 22d, 23d, 24th, 25th and Spring Garden Streets, as well as parts of Pennsylvania Avenue and Park Town Place.

The closures could last until Tuesday, according to a city news release.

SEPTA buses Nos. 7, 32, 33, 38, 43 and 48 will remain detoured as long as the roads are closed. They're scheduled to resume service at 6 a.m. Tuesday, depending on whether roads have reopened, SEPTA said this morning. Consult SEPTA system status reports for updates, or get alerts through the agency's custom Twitter feeds.
