Police seek car connected to Delco man's murder

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a car believed to have been stolen after the murder of an Upper Darby man.

Michael Fanning, 59, was killed sometime last weekend in his home on Ruskin Lane near Long Lane, according to investigators.

Police said Fanning's coworkers at Haverford College, where he worked as a painter, became concerned when he didn't show up for his shift Monday. They found his body around 8:15 a.m. in a second-floor bedroom of his home. Fanning had been beaten to death.

Fanning's car was taken from his home after the murder, according to authorities. Police on Friday released a photo of the vehicle, which investigators believe may have been stolen by the same person who killed Fanning.

The car is described as a 2002 silver Mercury Grand Marquis with a black landau roof and Pennsylvania tags reading "RIC-TER."
