Man struck, killed by Amtrak train in Levittown

George Redner III, 27, was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at the SEPTA Levittown Station.

Authorities have identified a man struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Bucks County on Saturday morning.

George Redner III, 27, was in the track area of SEPTA's Levittown Station near Bristol Pike and the Levittown Parkway when he was fatally struck by Amtrak Keystone train No. 663 about 10:15 a.m., an Amtrak spokesman said.

No injuries were reported to the 304 passengers aboard the train, which was traveling from New York City to Philadelphia, then on to Harrisburg.

Amtrak briefly closed the tracks in the area, prompting SEPTA to suspend Trenton Regional Rail service between the Croydon Station and Trenton Transportation Center shortly before 11 a.m.

Both Amtrak and SEPTA trains were again operating by noon. Some Amtrak trains traveling along the Northeast Corridor were subject to residual delays due to congestion and speed restrictions in the area, a spokesman said.

SEPTA trains initially bypassed the Levittown Station, but service to the stop resumed around 3:30 p.m.

An investigation into Redner's death remained ongoing Saturday afternoon.
