Pa. man high on marijuana charged with killing infant daughter, police say

EAST STROUDSBURG — Authorities say an East Stroudsburg man killed his 5-month-old daughter while high on marijuana Friday.

Anthony Gudino was charged Monday with homicide, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment, according to Stroud Area Regional police. Gudino is in Monroe County Prison without bail.

According to police, just before 1 p.m. Friday, police were called to Pocono Medical Center for an infant who had just arrived with a traumatic injury.

The baby was the daughter of Gudino, who brought her to the hospital. When the baby arrived, she was "limp, unresponsive and not breathing."

The baby had "numerous traumatic head injuries" and died a short time later.

Gudino told police the baby was in a swing with a bottle when he heard a gurgling sound. He said he took the baby out of the swing and tried basic first aid and tried to revive her, but was unsuccessful.

Gudino said he then ran outside to go to the hospital. He told police that the day before, he had been smoking marijuana.

But hospital staffers told police that Gudino appeared to be high at the time he brought his daughter to the hospital.

Police said Gudino was the only one with his daughter in the hours before her death.

A account has been set up by the girl's aunt to raise money for her funeral.
