N.J. man convicted of throwing daughter, 2, into creek

A New Jersey man was convicted Thursday of killing his 2-year-old daughter by tossing her off a bridge and into a creek.

A New Jersey man was convicted Thursday of killing his 2-year-old daughter by tossing her off a bridge and into a creek.

A Monmouth County Superior Court jury found 29-year-old Arthur Morgan III guilty of first-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child and interference with custody.

A group of teenagers found the body of Morgan III's daughter, Tierra Morgan-Glover, on Nov. 22, 2011 in a shallow stream under an overpass in Wall Township.

The child was fully clothed and strapped into a car seat, which was weighted down by a carjack.

Prosecutors contended Morgan III, who was embroiled in a custody dispute with the child's mother, threw his daughter from the overpass while she was still alive. He was arrested about a week later in California, not far from the Mexican border.

Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni issued a statement commending assistant prosecutors Marc LeMieux and Jordan Williams "for presenting a solid case to the jury and providing justice for the senseless death of an innocent child."

"Little Tierra can now rest in peace," Gramiccioni said.

Morgan III faces a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole when he's sentenced May 26.
