Man shot in North Philadelphia, Temple issues advisory

A man is in stable after being shot in the mouth near Temple University's main campus in North Philadelphia.

Police were investigating a shooting near Temple University's main campus this morning that prompted the university's TU Advisory system to issue a message telling students and employees to avoid the area.

Police spokeswoman Officer Jillian Russell said a 20-year-old man was shot once in the mouth in a house on 12th Street near Susquehanna Avenue around 10 a.m. He was listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital late this afternoon.

Russell said police know who the shooter is, but have not yet made an arrest. She said neither the shooter nor the victim is a Temple student.
