A 21-year-old man was shot on Callowhill Street near Gross Wednesday night, and was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, police said.
Two men approached the victim and shot him once in his chest around 8:50 p.m., police said.
The man stumbled away from the suspects and collapsed to the ground. Police took the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m., Lt. John Walker of the Southwest Detective Division said.
Police were on the scene around 9:40 p.m., and a description of the suspect and the motive behind the shooting was not immediately available.
Police found seven shell casings and drops of blood on the scene.
No arrests were made.
