Man charged in DUI wreck of man outside beer store

Police arrested a Northern Liberties man for drunk driving and involuntary manslaughter after he hit and killed a man who was helping a coworker outside a North Philadelphia beer distributor yesterday.

Police arrested a Northern Liberties man for drunk driving and involuntary manslaughter after he hit and killed a man who was helping a coworker outside a North Philadelphia beer distributor yesterday.

Ronald A. Manson, 64, of New Market Street, is being held on $350,000 bail pending a June 4 preliminary hearing for the accident on Girard Avenue near 8th Street, court records show. Manson was driving a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 van east on Girard about 1:30 p.m. when he hit Stuart Moore, 54, of 10th Street near Thompson, who was standing in the shoulder helping a coworker back up a delivery truck, police said. Moore was declared dead on the scene at 1:50 pm.

that Moore lost his wife 20 years ago and raised their son. He'd only been on the job eight months but had become indispensible there, his boss told a reporter.
