Man, 27, fatally shot in Kensington

A 27-year-old man was fatally shot inside a rooming house Tuesday night in the city's Kensington section, police said.

About 9:45 p.m., police were called to the 3100 block of Reach Street, where they found the victim shot in the chest in a second-floor rear bedroom, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Police carried the victim outside to be taken by medics to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m.

Authorities on Wednesday identified the victim as Kylil Sturdivant, of West Philadelphia.

People inside the rooming house told police they heard somebody enter the property, run up the stairs, begin shooting, and then flee.
