Police are searching for Anthony Baker, 26, in connection with a fatal shooting Feb. 9 in Germantown.

This post has been updated.

A West Oak Lane man was gunned down in the city’s Germantown section early Thursday morning, and police are seeking the public's help to track down a man wanted in connection with the shooting.

Officers responding to a call for gunshots on Marion Street near Hansberry at 1:29 a.m. found the victim, 24-year-old David McLenic, of Louise Road near Middleton Street, lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Medics pronounced McLenic dead at the scene.

Police said their investigation revealed that McLenic had been involved in an altercation with several other men prior to the shooting, and they are looking for 26-year-old Anthony Baker in connection with the slaying.

Police released a photo of Baker, whose last known address was on Algard Street near Levick in the city's Mayfair section. A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered by the city for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the killing, police said.

Tipsters should contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or -35, the Philadelphia Police tipline at 215-686-8477 or dial 911.

The Philadelphia Police Department site says 40 as of midnight 2/8/12, which would make this 41; however, 40 was the number on the site a few days ago, before some other folks were murdered, so I'm not sure we can trust the PPD site number.

Anthony Baker was reacting to racism that he perceives in this society, and besides, there wasn't enough funding for recreation programs to keep him busy. That explains it.
