Driver cited for DUI after crash injures five in Delaware

Five people were injured early Saturday after an allegedly intoxicated driver blew a red light in Milford, Del., according to investigators.

State police said 29-year-old Michael Walker was driving south on Canterbury Road around 2:45 a.m., when he failed to stop for the red light at the intersection of Milford Harrington Highway.

Walker, who was behind the wheel of a 1998 Buick Century, t-boned a 2008 Nissan Altima that was driving east on Milford Harrington Highway, according to investigators.

The driver of the Nissan, 45-year-old Danny Hudson, of Lincoln, was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Two passengers in the Nissan – a 23-year-old Millsboro woman and a 43-year-old Lewes woman – were also hospitalized, police said. Their conditions were not immediately available.

Walker, of Milford, was also taken to Milford Memorial Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, as was a 34-year-old Greenwood man who was riding in Walker's car, police said.

Walker is charged with one count of first-degree vehicular assault, three counts of second-degree vehicular assault, driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to stop at a red light, police said.
