Crescentville teen arrested in shooting, armed robbery

The 18-year-old suspect in an armed robbery and shooting in a North Philadelphia SEPTA concourse was arrested after police found him hiding out at a relative’s house in East Frankford Thursday afternoon, police said.

Shawn Walker, of Anchor Street near Colgate in Crescentville, is facing charges of robbery and assault — among other offenses — after shooting a 53-year-old man in his hip and robbing him inside the SEPTA Broad Street Line concourse on Broad Street near Glenwood Avenue Oct. 7 around 7:35 p.m.

Cops said the teen was also wanted in connection with a robbery on Lehigh Avenue near 16th Street, which occurred on Oct. 5.

Police in the Northwest Detective Division, headquartered on Broad Street and Champlost Avenue, received addresses Walker was known to frequent from the Juvenile Enforcement team. Cops found Walker in a house on Duffield Street near Pratt.

“We hit the house and he bailed out the back door,” said Lt. George McClay, of the Northwest Detective Division.

Walker was taken into custody and was being held at the division headquarters early Thursday afternoon. Police early Thursday afternoon were preparing a search warrant for the house Walker was hiding in.
