Cops: Women threw live rats into Grays Ferry home

Police are looking for a group of women who allegedly threw live rats into a home in Grays Ferry Wednesday night.

Investigators said the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute over a man two women were both dating.

The argument allegedly escalated when, shortly before 11 p.m., one of the women, along with her mother and a group of eight to nine friends, showed up at the other woman's home on the 1200 block of South 28th Street, according to police.

Police said the gang smashed the home's windows, damaged a screen door and threw a box of live rats inside. The suspect then allegedly pushed the 30-year-old victim several times and stole her purse containing identification and credit cards and $200 in cash.

Investigators said the main suspect, described as a thin, black female in her early 20s, is believed to have fled the scene in a green Chevrolet Lumina with Pennsylvania tags.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the crime.
