Cops: Man sexually assaults woman after SEPTA bus ride

Philadelphia police are looking for the man who sexually assaulted a woman in the city's Cobbs Creek section after a bus ride.

Police said the 58-year-old woman got into a conversation with the man who sat next to her on a Route 21 SEPTA bus at about 9 p.m. Saturday.

Both the woman and the man, whom she didn't know, got off the bus and went to the woman's home on the 6200 block of Chestnut Street, police said.

When they got there, the man "forcibly sexually assaulted" the woman and remained at the residence until about 4 a.m., police said.

When he left, he took several kitchen appliances with him, police said.

The suspect is described as black, 50 to 60 years old, 6 feet tall, and having a stocky build.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a tan hat, black jacket, light blue shirt, black pants and black sneakers with white stripes.

Police released surveillance video of the suspect this afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-8477 (TIPS). Tipsters can also send a text message to 773847 (PPDTIPS).
