Cops: Man charged in fatal Southwark assault

Carlos Farrington, 35, of Southwark, is facing murder charges after police found James Lawson, 34, dead in the basement of the home the men shared on Orkney Street near Morris Friday afternoon, police said.

Farrington’s criminal history includes over 10 arrests dating back to 1995 for robbery, drug possession and distribution, weapons violations, assault and terroristic threats — among other offenses, according to court records.

Farrington is being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on murder and aggravated assault charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 24, according to court documents.

Police said it appeared as if Lawson was beaten to death. Officials listed an argument as the motive, but did not provide information on what Farrington and Lawson argued about.
