Bolaris: Rain and sleet shifting to snow

Tropical like moisture continues this afternoon to ride along an Arctic front, which is acting like a snow conveyer belt.  The storm could pump about 6 to 8 inches of snow for the city by 7 p.m.  Higher amounts are expected across parts of Southern New Jersey and Delaware.

Timing:

Up to 5 inches have already fallen across parts of the region. The temperature is also now below freezing and expected to drop through the night.

Now through 4 p.m.: Snow, heavy at times, continues to fall. Temperatures will be falling into the 20s.

4-7 p.m.: Snow tapers to light snow. The 5 p.m. temperature should be near 26 degrees.

7-9 p.m.: Snow ending west to east.

After 9 p.m.: Clearing, temperature turns frigid, with a low of 10 degrees.

Accumulations:

City: 6-8 inches, with the 8-inch mark the target.

Parts of South Jersey and Delaware: 8-10 inches

Lesser amounts north and west.

A bright blue, Arctic sky and very cold temperatures, with a high of 26.
