Bolaris: Beautiful weather continues into weekend, for now

Or moreso how its record-setting totals — in some parts of the mid-Atlantic — missed Philadelphia and the suburbs for the most part?

(Southern New Jersey was sitting right in the path of some of the heaviest rainfall as some places picked up 9 inches of rain with rates of 3-5 inches in one hour. That track ran up the coast crossing Islip Long Island with an astonishing 13.27 inches of rain, the most EVER recorded in a 24 hour period in all of New York State.)

Well, we appear in good shape yet again — at least for the rest of Friday and Saturday:

Beautiful weather on tap for both your get-away Friday and for the start of your weekend. Friday will feature plenty of sunshine and low humidity from Philly to New York City as a high pressure system builds in.

The first half of your weekend is looking great, but scattered showers and storms could return by later in the day on Sunday as a cold front approaches. Here's the breakdown.

Friday: Golden sunshine, low humidity High of 79 degrees inland.

The Shore: Sunshine. 77 degrees.

Saturday: Ton of sun. 83 degrees.

The Shore: Sunshine. 78 degrees.

Sunday: Threat of scattered showers and storms, especially later in the day. 84 degrees.

The Shore: Scattered showers should hold off until later in the day. 79 degrees.
