Utility crews are still working to restore power to thousands of customers who have gone without electricity for three days since violent thunderstorms struck the region Thursday.

Fewer than than 10,000 customers in Chester and Delaware counties remain without power, said Cathy Engel, spokeswoman for Eco Energy Co.

She said the company hoped to restore power for "the vast majority" of those homes and businesses by evening, though some small pockets in heavily damaged areas would not see their electricity restored until tomorrow.

More than 200,000 customers lost power following the storm.
