The trio apparently fell into the river near Shawmont Avenue and Nixon Street around 12:30 a.m.

It wasn't clear how they ended up in the water.

Footage from 6ABC shows police dive teams taking a man on a stretcher into an ambulance. The news station reported that the man fell in the water, and two friends jumped in to try to save him.

The river's temperature was 41 degrees at the time, according to U.S. Geological Survey data.
