2 vehicles flee after hitting, killing woman on Broad Street

A woman has died after being struck by three vehicles -- two of which fled the scene -- on North Broad Street this morning.

Philadelphia police said the female pedestrian was trying to cross Broad Street near Belfield Avenue when she was struck at about 5 a.m.

Three vehicles in a row traveling south on Broad Street hit the woman, police said.

The first and third cars to strike her fled; the second driver pulled over and remained at the scene.

The woman was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. There were no other victims.

No descriptions of the fleeing vehicles were immediately available.
