Two shot, 1 killed in W. Philly

One man was killed Tuesday afternoon and a second man was injured in a shooting in West Philadelphia.

Police said gunfire broke out shortly before 4 p.m. Investigators found one victim, a 23-year-old man, on the 3900 block of Poplar Street. He was shot once in the head and twice in the left arm. Investigators said the man died shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The second victim, a 27-year-old man, was found on the 4000 block of Poplar Street. He was shot once in the right thigh and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.

Neither victim had been identified Tuesday evening. There's not yet word on what led to the shooting, and police said no arrests had been made.
