Deptford, N.J. couple found dead in apparent murder-suicide

Gloucester County officials are investigating a suspected murder-suicide that claimed the lives of a Deptford Township couple Saturday morning. Police received a 911 call at 8:17 a.m. from a 67-year-old man reporting a shooting in the couple's residence in Heritage, an age-restricted community.

Police received a 911 call at 8:17 a.m. from a 67-year-old man reporting a shooting in the couple's residence in Heritage, an age-restricted community.

When police responded, officers found the man and his 72-year-old wife mortally wounded.

The man was transported to Inspira Hospital in Woodbury, where he was pronounced dead at 9 a.m. His wife, who was taken to Cooper Medical Center in Camden, was pronounced dead at 9:29 a.m.

Authorities were trying to reach family members and did not identify the couple.
