A man was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit River Line train Monday morning.

N.J. Transit said the pedestrian was trespassing in the track area just south of the Bordentown station in Burlington County when he was struck shortly before 6:30 a.m.

The transit agency identified the man Monday afternoon as 37-year-old Paul Brophy, of Mount Laurel.

The train operator told authorities that Brophy came out of a wooded area and onto the tracks, officials said.

It wasn't immediately known whether he stepped in front of the tracks intentionally; a medical examiner will make that determination.

River Line service was suspended between the Roebling and Bordentown stations for about three hours.

Trains began running again at about 9:45 a.m., though some continued delays were expected.

No passengers or crew members were injured.
