Maple Shade 10-year-old, a frequent runaway, is found again

A 10-year-old Maple Shade boy who has expressed interest in being a survivalist - and has disappeared from his apartment complex at least five times this month - was found again Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Investigators had grown concerned about Logan Cosumano's whereabouts before a citizen located him. Logan was found in the rear parking lot of a shopping center near his Great Road apartment complex, shortly before 4 p.m.

Logan previously told police he was fascinated with being a survivalist, Maple Shade Police Lt. Jeffrey Hoch said. Officers once found him with binoculars, and another time with water and a pillow he took from a CVS, Hoch said.

"He's comfortable to be out in the woods," Hoch said.

Logan disappeared Wednesday about 4:30 p.m. from his apartment after arguing with his mother, Hoch said. He walked out the door without shoes, just wearing socks, khaki shorts, and a red and black Puma jacket.

Hoch said that there were family issues at Logan's home and that police have alerted the Department of Child Protection and Permanency each time he disappeared. Hoch declined to detail the issues.

Earlier, shortly after Logan disappeared Wednesday, a man had spotted him sitting in a car on Waverly Avenue, not far from Logan's apartment complex. When the man asked the boy what he was doing, Logan replied that he was playing a game, Hoch said. Police believe he was using the car as shelter.

Logan, who will turn 11 next week, previously went missing May 4, 6, 7, and 8, and his family notified police, Hoch said. One time officers found him hiding under a bush in nearby Cherry Hill after someone saw his feet sticking out. Another time he was found by a car dealership.
