Metal detectors installed at all Citizens Bank Park gates

Anyone entering Citizens Bank Park will now need to pass through a metal detector.

The Phillies said Monday that last year's metal detector pilot program is being expanded all entrance gates for the 2015 season as required by Major League Baseball.

The pilot program, launched last July, only required fans entering at the right-field gate to be screened. Metal detectors were installed at all gates over five weeks during the offseason.

The expanded use begins with the Phillies' On Deck series against the Pirates on April 3 and 4.

People entering concerts and other major events at the ballpark will also be required to walk through the detectors.

Fans will not need to take off shoes or belts, but cell phones, cameras, keys and other large metal items will need to be removed and put in a containers prior to passing through the metal detectors.

"We believe this increased security can be accomplished with very little inconvenience to our fans," Sal DeAngelis, the team's director of operations/security, said in a statement.
