An Atlantic City woman was indicted Wednesday on charges alleging that she attempted to drown her baby while jumping off a jetty into the ocean last year, said Atlantic County Prosecutor James P. McClain.

Patricia A. Shurig, 24, of North Carolina Avenue, jumped into the ocean with her 1-month-old infant Oct. 26 from the jetty on Pacific Avenue near New Hampshire Avenue. Shurig and the baby were rescued by bystanders assisted by U.S. Coast Guard personnel, McClain said.

Shurig was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and was released after posting $100,000 cash bail, McClain said. - Robert Moran
