Man shot, killed in Swampoodle section of North Philadelphia

A man was shot and killed Friday night in the Swampoodle section of North Philadelphia, police said. The 45-year-old man, who was not identified by police, pending family notification, was outside near the intersection of North 21st Street and West Toronto Street when he was shot in his right-side chest and abdomen just before 9:30 p.m., according to preliminary police information.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:03 p.m.

No arrests had been made in the shooting late Saturday morning, police said.
