Philadelphia police were involved in two shootings of suspects Wednesday afternoon.

About 4:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Page Street in Strawberry Mansion, a male was shot in his lower abdomen and was taken by police to Temple University Hospital.

The male, who was in critical condition, was suspected of shooting a 19-year-old man in the face about 3:55 p.m. in the 3000 block of Page, police said. When police confronted him, the male allegedly produced a weapon and was shot by the officer.

Less than an hour later, an officer shot a man who had allegedly tried to run over him in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

About 5:20 p.m., police were at Elmwood and Island Avenues investigating a stolen motorcycle that the owner was trying to buy back from two men, ages 30 and 27, in a vehicle.

As officers were arresting the older man, who was the driver, the younger man moved behind the wheel and sped the vehicle toward them, police said.

One officer fired at the vehicle, striking the passenger-side window.

The vehicle was found at 56th and Wheeler Streets, as was the 27-year-old man, who had a gunshot wound to his right arm, police said. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was reported in stable condition.

No officers were injured.
