Two women who ended up separately in the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers within minutes of each other Wednesday were pulled to safety by rescuers, police said.

In the first incident, an unidentified passerby is credited with rescuing a 41-year-old woman whose kayak overturned on the Schuylkill at Kelly Drive and Hunting Park Avenue around 8 a.m.

Police said no injuries were reported.

About 10 minutes later, a 35-year-old woman slipped into the Delaware River at Penns Landing.

A police Marine Unite boat 4 responded and pulled the woman out the water, police said

She was reported to be alert and conscious when she was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital.
