Police: Bucks man charged in fatal DUI

A Doylestown man was charged with homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence Saturday night after his vehicle struck a motorcycle carrying two people, killing one and injuring the other.

Dennis H. Bennett, 64, was driving eastbound on Kellers Church Road in Ottsville, Bucks County around 10:30 p.m. when he crossed into the westbound lane and struck the motorcycle head-on, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. The two riders, a 47-year-old man and 45-year-old woman, were taken to St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, said Trooper Edwin Leon of the Dublin barracks. The woman sustained moderate injuries.

Bennett, who did not sustain any injuries, was arraigned on charges of homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle, driving under the influence and reckless driving among other charges. Court documents show that Bennett's blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit. He is being held at Bucks County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of his $100,000 bail.
