Two people were injured in a tandem skydiving accident in upper Bucks County Tuesday morning, landing in the field of an elementary school in Perkasie around 11:30 a.m., authorities said.

Perkasie police did not release the extent of the injuries but said both people were taken to a regional trauma center. Police said the skydivers were on a plane that flew out of Bucks County's Pennridge Airport.

Airport officials referred calls to Skydive Philadelphia, which did not immediately return phone calls from The Inquirer.

The accident remains under investigation by Perkasie police and the Federal Aviation Administration.

An FAA spokesman said preliminary reports indicated that the parachute malfunctioned as they fell to the ground. The spokesman said the FAA will examine the parachute as well as the plane that carried the skydivers.
