Phila. police civilian worker charged with fighting

A longtime civilian employee of the Philadelphia Police Department has been suspended with intent to dismiss after she was charged with attacking another woman in South Philadelphia over the weekend, police said Thursday.

Police said Kathy Pugh, 52, a 27-year veteran of the department, was arrested about 1 p.m. Sunday by officers responding to a report of a fight in the 2500 block of South American Street. Officers then saw Pugh, who lives on the 1000 block South 18th Street, attempting to assault a 38-year-old woman.

After an Internal Affairs investigation, Pugh was charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, and related offenses, and suspended by Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey. She had been assigned to the department's Report Control Unit. - Vernon Clark
