2 hurt in accident involving SEPTA K-9 unit

Two people were injured in a car accident involving a SEPTA K-9 unit Monday night, transit agency officials said.

Details on the crash, which occurred shortly before 9 p.m., were few, but SEPTA spokesman Manny Smith said a K9 unit was en route to a reported disturbance on a bus.

At Fifth Street and Lehigh Avenue, the unit was involved in an accident with a passenger vehicle, Smith said. No SEPTA personnel were hurt, but two passengers were injured, Smith said. The nature of their injuries was unclear.
