Companion charged in fatal N.J. stabbing

A man against whom a stabbing victim in West Deptford had obtained a temporary restraining order has been charged with murder, police said.

Rocco Carsillo, 55, of Thorofare, was arrested Thursday in Winslow Township. He is accused of stabbing Margaret Ann DePietro, 50, multiple times inside her apartment along Highbridge Lane in the Grande at Kings Woods complex, near Kings Highway and Grove Road. Her body was found at 11 p.m. Wednesday by a family member checking on her.

Since 2003, Carsillo and DePietro had been in a relationship that included bouts of domestic violence, police said. In November, DePietro received a temporary restraining order against Carsillo, but it was dismissed after neither DePietro or Carsillo showed up in court.

Police said that Carsillo's most recent address is DePietro's apartment but that she was living alone. It's unclear where Carsillo was living at the time of the homicide.

Along with murder, Carsillo faces weapons charges. He did not make $500,000 bail and is being held in the Gloucester County Jail.
