GOP favors Council Chairman McGarrigle for Senate

SPRINGFIELD The Delaware County Council chairman will be the favored Republican candidate in the 26th District state Senate primary, the party announced Thursday.

Tom McGarrigle, of Springfield Township, was elected to the council in 2007. Before that, he served as a Springfield commissioner. McGarrigle started his own automotive repair business at 21 in Sharon Hill, expanded to Collingdale in three years, and later moved his business to Springfield.

McGarrigle said his top priorities would be residents' concerns related to "education, controlling state spending, and job creation."

The 26th District includes part of Chester County. Easttown and Willistown Townships will undertake a separate endorsement process, according to officials.
