A 21-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to animal cruelty and related offenses for setting a cat on fire in the city's Olney section in November.

Tyrique Hall faces a maximum 10 years in prison for dousing a cat with a flammable liquid and setting it on fire Nov. 10 in the area of Third Street and Wellens Avenue, the Pennsylvania SPCA said Wednesday.

Jose Sanchez, 18, awaits trial in the case. The cat, named Campbell, was treated for burn wounds for three weeks, and then was adopted by Philadelphia Fire Lt. Stephen Paslawski in December. - Robert Moran
