Man found dead at N. Phila. fire scene
An unidentified man was found dead inside a North Philadelphia house that caught fire Friday night, authorities said.
Firefighters were called at 6:21 p.m. to the 2300 block of West Firth Street, where they found smoke coming from the rear of the building on the second floor, authorities said. The fire was placed under control at 6:40 p.m.
Firefighters discovered the man's body inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
A fire official said the blaze started in a middle rear bedroom and extended into a hallway and damaged adjacent rooms.
The victim, whose identity was not confirmed, was found in that bedroom. - Robert Moran
