Four men sought in Coatesville muggings

COATESVILLE - A group of men mugged three people between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday night in Coatesville, police said.

Two of the victims, both men, were taken to the hospital, one with a large laceration on his forehead and another with a large lump on his head. An elderly female victim was not hurt, and the robbers were unsucessfull in taking her purse, the police said.

"She was by herself, and they attempted to rip the purse from her. She ripped it back," Coatesville police Sgt. Steven Smith said.

The four robbers, who were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, were between 17 and 20 years old, police said. Police said three of the men were black, and one was white or Hispanic. The men allegedly took a wallet, cell phone and $100 in cash from one of the victims. They took $20 from another victim, who was robbed as he was getting off a bus, the police said.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call the Coatesville Police Department at 610-384-2300.
