One dead, one injured in two city crashes
A 52-year-old man died early Sunday after crashing his motorcycle in Philadelphia's Juniata Park section, and a bicyclist was in critical condition after being struck by an automobile in Kensington, police said.
The motorcyclist crashed into the rear of a vehicle that was double-parked on the 4600 block of Whitaker Avenue, then bounced off that vehicle and struck another automobile about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
He was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:27 a.m., police said. Police had not revealed his name.
Also early Sunday, an unidentified bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on the 2800 block of Swanson Street about 12:15 a.m. Police said the motorist had struck an unattended parked vehicle and then continued on to hit the bicyclist.
The driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. The bicyclist, who sustained head injuries, was in critical condition at Temple University Hospital, police said.
