SEPTA train service was delayed briefly for some passengers Friday morning after a train struck and fatally injured a man at the North Broad station at about 8:35 a.m.

The victim was described as a 59-year-old man who was a resident of a nearby homeless shelter. Witnesses said the man jumped in front of an inbound Doylestown-Lansdale line train.

Passengers on the six-car train were transferred to another train about 20 minutes after the incident, SEPTA spokeswoman Jerri Williams said. Service on other lines through the station was not affected.
