1 block, 2 shootings; 1 dead, 1 critical

A man was critically wounded by gunfire early Thursday on the same block in North Philadelphia where another man was shot and killed less than three hours earlier, police said.

A man was critically wounded by gunfire early Thursday on the same block in North Philadelphia where another man was shot and killed less than three hours earlier, police said.

At 12:19 a.m., a 38-year-old male was shot in the stomach on 3000 block of Germantown Avenue near Indiana Avenue, police said. The victim was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

A 19-year-old male was shot in that head at the intersection of Germantown and Indiana Avenues earlier in the night.

He was rushed to Temple Hospital in extremely critical condition and pronounced dead at 9:53 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Police have not yet released his name.

It is not yet clear if the shootings were related.

Another North Philadelphia shooting occurred early Thursday at 16th and West Stile Streets. An 18-year-old male was shot in the left calf at 12:54 a.m., police said. That victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital in stable condition.

Police have made no arrests in the separate shootings.
