Philly detective fired for alleged overtime abuse reinstated by PPD

Former Philadelphia homicide detective Kenneth Rossiter, who was fired last year for alleged overtime abuse, has been reinstated by an arbirator.

"He was awarded his job back" yesterday, John McNesby, president of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, said Thursday. He had vowed to fight for Rossiter's return.

Rossiter, who joined the force in 1980, was fired by Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey in June for allegedly reporting to court for overtime duty, then going home and later reporting back to check out.

"The arbitrator has made a final decision concerning this and I am forced to uphold that decision," Ramsey said.

City records showed that Rossiter had in recent years collected more than $90,000 annually in overtime on top of his salary of about $69,000.

Rossiter has worked on high-profile murder cases, including the investigation of accused drug kingpin Kaboni Savage.

Rossiter told The Daily News last year that he had done nothing wrong.

The commissioner himself caught the guy stealing OT from the taxpayer and now he is back to get some more? He took home 90G's in OT previously? Lord ... was that yearly? So, he always counted on a yearly income of approximately 160G's for how many years? Wow. He wrote his own paycheck in other words. What a great gig. Probably ready to retire soon with pension and so many Cadillac benefits and perks. I always thought that when a law enforcement or judicial person lied about something like OT that sort of discredits them as trustworthy. That's the same as stealing from the evidence room, isn't it? He must have a guardian angel helping him because I have no other idea how he got reinstated. He must be blessed.

Just because he got his job back doesn't mean you have to assign him to a plum position.

your all idiots or just have a child mentality of hating cops. The guy is a great homicide det. and being on call is a part of his job just like working 16 hours w/o sleep so shut it and stop with the Tax paying horse sh** it most definitely doesn't apply here.
Complain that he has to work so many hours on homicides

So, you really like ridin' cop jocks, hey fred? People in this town are fed up with the many stories of corruption and abuse committed by members of the PPD, especially when it comes to a subject such as overtime. I guess you truly believe this cat Rossiter was honest about all of the OT he put in for from home. Stop being a groupie and get a life of your own.

I love the back seat cop haters that do nothing but complain. If people use the energy to put on a uniform and patrol the way they think it should be done the city would be a better place.

I guess the only difference to you is this thief is one that wears a uniform and is sworn to uphold the law. A thief is a thief no matter what!

Shame on Seth Williams. Why wasn't this guy charged with theft, fraud and related charges. Where are the Feds. The DAs office had the nerve to call an admitted thief to court to testify. He is no better than any other detectives in Homicide. Shame on the FOP, shame on the DA for not charging him

If you think that assigned to homicide is a blum position you are out in left field. He wasn't charged by Seth because it would have opened a can of worms. Seth only acts stupid when it benefits Seth. This detective is and was one of the best Philly has. I hope he get back pay and overtime. We need more like him. God Bless.

What can of worms, that all the detectives in Homicide steal money also? If that's the case, they all should be charged. He is no better detective than the rest. He should be put in a unit where he can be supervised closely, he and his overtime entries.

This guy will be promoted to Nutters Security detail so that he can be watched. You should see the overtime that they rack in, including when he leaves the city, state or country. Another politician against guns that is surrounded by them.
