Philadelphia man killed by train in Montco

A Philadelphia man who was killed after he was struck by a train Thursday night in Montgomery County has been identified.

Frederick Washington, 68 of the 900 block of West College Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police the incident happened at 9:40 p.m. on the train tracks between the Merion and Overbrook stations in Lower Merion. The operator of the eastbound train reported the accident immediately.

Lower Merion and Amtrack police are investigating.
