Humane Society boosts reward in dog's death
The Humane Society of the United States is adding $2,500 to the $1,000 already being offered as a reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for killing a small dog in Coatesville last weekend.The body of Woogie, a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and a poodle, was found about 3 a.m. Sunday by firefighters responding to the report of a trash fire in the 300 block of Coates Street, police said. The dog had been coated with an accelerant and wrapped in trash bags. Preliminary necropsy results showed that the dog was asphyxiated before being set on fire. Owner Cora Brown said that Woogie went for jaunts around the neighborhood, but always returned within a few hours.
